  • Palazzo d'Accursio o Comunale is a former palace and currently Bologna's town hall located on the Piazza Maggiore. The building is home to the Civic Art Collection, featuring paintings from the Middle Ages to the 19th century.
  • Bologna's most imposing and important church, the Cathedral of Saint Petronious, whose remain facade remains unfinished from as far back as 1390, when construction began.
  • Piazza Maggiore is a public square located in the very centre of Bologna and is embellished with various important buildings.
  • It is estimated that originally there were around 180 towers, however, only 20 remain today. The most famous are the Towers of the Asinelli and Garisenda which stand side by side at the Piazza di Porta Ravegnana. These two towershave become a favourite symbol of the city.
  • This 16th century building is considered one of Bologna's most important buildings. Formally, the main building of the University of Bologna, Archiginnasio houses a library and Anatomical Theatre.
  • The Fountain of Neptune is located in the Piazza del Nettuno, next to Piazza Maggiore. Before the fountain was built, an entire edifice was demolished to make space for it. The fountain was completed in 1565.
